If you are not blogging for people and from your own knowledge base then you are missing the mark with your online presence. How many times have you clicked on a post at the top of the index only to find that it’s totally void of merit? Even if content makes its way to the upper echelons of index glory due to calculated SEO tactics, does it matter if site visitors leave in a wink of an eye because the content isn’t worth reading?
Expert or Expert Claims?
One super amazing, authentic, information rich post is worth a bazillion and one generic posts written for spiders and bots, or worse, scraped from other peoples’ websites. That being said, I recently read a post by a self-proclaimed jack of all trades expert who stated that if someone isn’t constantly blogging and pumping out umpteen posts per month, they are not worth following. This same person makes “expert” claims on a variety of diverse topics such as mortgages, database management, social media marketing, search engine optimization, credit and the list goes on and on.
All I can say is that is one extra -super talented, extraordinary human being or maybe they are not quite all they claim to be. This same super star pumps out approximately 40 – 60 posts per month. Friends, that’s about 2 posts per day and in my opinion a full time job in itself. I don’t know about you but I am not an expert on anything other that what I actually do each day which is designing WordPress blogging platforms and teaching people how to blog effectively. Yes, I have a few other talents like chief bottle washer, mother and dog walker, but expert claims I do not make.
Blogging from Your Own Knowledge Base
Heck, Google employs tens of thousands of people who are so mono-focused on their own tasks they haven’t a clue what the next Google expert is doing. Personally, I am so busy helping people with their online presence that I have to squeeze in time to blog about it and when I do, it’s from my own knowledge base and personal experience. I’m actually quite leery of super human bloggers that make grandiose claims with way too much time on their hands.
When Matt Cutts Blogs People Listen
Take Matt Cutts, Google’s spam cop, for example. Mr. Matt doesn’t pump out posts everyday or even every week for that matter. But when he does, people take notice and read every word he has to say. He has a colossal readership following. Why? – because he provides unique, informative and useful content that people connect with and appreciate. Matt will also be the first to tell you that if you want a successful online presence, write quality content for people not bots.
Search Engines have become Answer Engines
Search engines have become answer engines and Internet users have grown accustomed to finding what they’re looking for immediately. If your content is inauthentic and can not provide those answers or too focused on SEO, say bye-bye and see you later to your site visitors, otherwise known as ‘bounce rate.’ I say focus on your message then SEO – always in that order.
