I will say it again, taking a break is good for your creativity, especially if you are a writer. You need to do it for yourself , otherwise you feel dead inside, all dried up and have nothing new and interesting to say. What happens is that you start saying the same thing over and over again. You lose your oomph. Maybe you say it in different ways, but it has been said already and so why say it again, right?
This last week, I took a beautiful break up the eastern seacoast with my boyfriend. He does Nascar and part of the pit crew for the modified division. They came in first place last year. Doug Coby, number 2 car. We were at the New Hampshire Speedway for the Louden race. Let me just say that it was absolutely amazing to watch these guys work in unison together. It’s like watching a surgery in motion. Everyone knows their job and work very fast. The Nascar officials come around and check everything and these guys have to be on their toes at all times.
You might think that it’s just a bunch of fast cars racing around a track but it’s not. There is intense logistics going on behind the scenes …. very exciting to watch. I met a lot of really wonderful people and had a blast. I also took my mind of writing for a few days. I took a step back from the grind and I feel refreshed, rejuvenated and revived. As writers or what ever you do, we need to take fun breaks otherwise we can’t do it anymore. Breaks are good for the soul. Take them when you can. Happy day!
